Collaboration for gauge measurement
US-based Sensory Analytics and Australia’s Versatile Technology have collaborated to incorporate the SpecMetrix coating thickness and film weight measurement technology into Versatile’s automatic gauging and interfacing system.

The integration of the SpecMetrix ROI technology into the ACS-T34 automatic beverage can coating thickness gauge is said to enable the automatic gauge to accurately measure wet or dry internal and external coatings for 202-300mm diameter cans at any height without stopping or changeover.

Additionally, the technology includes a V2 embedded microprocessor system, which enables it to perform continuous and highly-accurate 360-degree scanning of coating thickness and film weight measurement data and real-time graphing of wall and overvarnish coating thickness data as well as real-time measurement tests of internal and external coatings. Optional items include sprayer ink dot detection system LSM/ISG recognition, barcode scanner and vTools Software.

Sensory Analytics was featured in the May 2018 issue of Plastic Technology magazine. We are excited to be included in their technology section discussing our next -generation SpecMetrix coating and layer thickness measurement systems. Click the link to below to read the article.

New launch of SpecMetrix systems addresses industry need for non-destructive in-line and off-line DFT measurement data in real-time

The expanding line of award-winning SpecMetrix® coating thickness measurement systems from Sensory Analytics deliver the fastest and most precise non-contact in-line and off-line coating thickness data available to coil coating leaders worldwide. These exclusive offerings are in production and QA use at a rapidly increasing number of coil coaters and coating suppliers to measure their primer and back coat DFTs. With the 2018 launch of the Company’s latest product lines, SpecMetrix systems will be able to non-destructively measure the wet or dry film thickness of almost all applied coil coatings such as primers, backers and opaque coil coatings, including topcoats. The Company’s new off-line SpecMetrix DFT QA Station can immediately provide non-contact primer and total coating thickness measurement data of samples. The new SpecMetrix in-process measurement solutions, including various fixed probe and scanning options, will accurately and continuously measure primer, topcoat or total thickness of applied coil coatings.

All SpecMetrix systems are powered by Sensory’s exclusive optical ROI technologies that generate absolute thickness readings with nanometric precision. SpecMetrix optical probes take up to 100 measurements per second per probe at line speeds of up to 600 meters per minute. These environmentally preferred systems are equally effective on wet or dry coatings, and are color and substrate independent. The superior Gage R&R performance of SpecMetrix systems are setting a higher industry standard for DFT system performance. These new capabilities will help SpecMetrix customers to further streamline their plant processes, improve quality, and reduce costs.
